Network Personnel proud to become JAM Card friendly
Network Personnel is now proudly recognised as a JAM Card Friendly organisation. With clients’ and customers’ needs at the forefront of our mission, our staff have completed training to ensure they are equipped to provide excellent customer service to all.
The ‘Just A Minute’ (JAM) Card, an initiative by the social enterprise NOW group, was created to allow people with a learning difficulty, autism or communication barrier to ask for ‘just a minute’ of patience when in customer service situations. The card allows them to do this in a discreet and easy way.
Originally a credit card sized card that says ‘Just A Minute’ on one side and ‘Please be patient I have a learning difficulty’ on the other, the card has now also been developed into an app for smartphones. There are now more than 20,000 people using the JAM Card and 2,500 people using the app in Northern Ireland. Users report they feel more confident and less anxious in public.
Georgina Grieve, General Manager, Network Personnel, said “Over 100 of our staff members have recently taken part in JAM Card awareness training. This provided them with the knowledge they need to ensure that users of the JAM Card feel welcome in Network Personnel. We meet people with learning difficulties and communication barriers daily and we want to help them realise their full potential. We are therefore delighted to support this initiative and have rolled this out across our offices.”
