Job Success for CFSP Participant Jay
A big well done and good luck to Community Family Support Programme (CFSP) participant, Jay from Mid-Ulster who was successful in securing employment with Fire Glass Direct in Castledawson.
Jay is very excited about his new job, which will see him working as a General Operative on a major construction contract at Bristol Airport.
Construction and general maintenance work was Jay’s preferred job goal when he joined CFSP in January 2016. Although presenting with a very limited CV, Jay worked collaboratively with his Employment Engagement Officer (EEO) on formalising an action plan which would help move him towards his job goal. This involved Jay completing training and qualifications in Manual Handling, Customer Service and CSR. His new skills and qualifications were used to enhance Jay’s existing CV which gave him a great start as he looked for a new job.
As well as searching for advertised jobs Jay forwarded copies of his new, more competitive CV to a number of local employers citing his interest in working specifically for them. Fire Glass Direct responded with an interview invite. In preparation, Jay and his EEO met and discussed possible questions and appropriate responses. Jay took on board all advice and guidance, performed very well in his interview and was successful in obtaining his new job.
Jay stated that he is very glad he decided to join CFSP and followed the key advice and mentoring provided.
